Enrich Your Life With Art

Artists Statement

I love painting outside as much as possible because of the natural beauty of the light, air, a gentle breeze, the sounds, scents and wonderful views.  I do still life paintings too, and often it can be an adventure since certain aspects of a scene may emerge that make the painting more exciting and unique to the viewer.  It may be the organic shape of a leafy vine or the variety of colors within a shadow.  I look for those things that add life and vibrancy whether painting plain air or a still life.

I was so inspired by the early American impressionists that I travelled to Giverny France to paint in the garden of Monet.  The flowers, trees. water reflections, the air, and archetecture were like an explosion of life and color!  I paint ocean scenes, marine life, and landscapes.  We have a treasure trove of scenes right here in New England.  I also painted on workshops in Italy and Sicily.  I travelled around France, Ireland and Greece painting along the way.

Painting has been a life long pursuit.  The inner drive to gain knowledge, skill and ability to continue to grow and evolve stays with me.  Having an understanding of composition, design, color theory, drawing and the power of line in creating an image along with value, shape, edges and how light affects the scene is essential.  These are the things that I try to keep at the forefront of my mind in every painting.

My art education includes many workshops, group lessons and private lessons with professional artists over the past twenty years.  I  took general drawing and figure drawing at the University Of Hartford and minored in Art History.  I studied the works of the masters.
